Newspaper reporter Edward Malone learns that this claim originates from a diary given to him by fellow explorer Maple White's daughter, Paula. Malone's paper funds an expedition to rescue Maple White, who has been marooned at the top of a high plateau. Joined by renowned hunter John Roxton, and others, the group goes to South America, where they do indeed find a plateau inhabited by pre-historic creatures, one of which they even manage to bring back to London with them.

看评论有中字啊，啃英文字幕都费劲的流下了不学无术的泪水。草食性的大恐龙（不知叫啥名），三角龙和迅猛龙（还有更大的食肉性霸王龙没出现），会飞的翼龙，只认识这几种恐龙了，都在片中出现，不愧是开山之作了。把怪兽带到都市，《金刚》可谓由此而来；火山爆发的设定在《侏罗纪世界》中再次使用。定格恐龙与人同处一个画面，真实与震撼感都有了；蒙太奇运用放在当时的确很优秀。男主的罗曼蒂克之旅，哈，生活比电影难多了。
这个改编的好欢乐啊……所以腕龙（？）最终秒变蛇颈龙？！

最精彩的段落居然出现在探险结束重返伦敦之后，如果在亚马逊的多线剧情安排能再紧凑惊险一些就完美了。丰富的景别加上真人实拍和恐龙停格动画相结合所带来的震撼丝毫不逊于如今的电脑特效。
