Historian Dominic Sandbrook and leading creators tell the story of science fiction.Plot Summary:The series heads to the very frontiers of space and science to produce the definitive television history of science fiction. The story of one of the liveliest and most stimulating genres in popular culture will be told through its impact on cinema, television and literature. Each episode will explore one of the enduring themes of science fiction: time travel; the exploration of space; robots and artificial intelligence; and aliens. It will be made with the help of the genre's greatest pioneers: the filmmakers, writers, actors, and graphic artists whose obsession and imagination has taken them into the unknown. 只记住一句话，科幻的历史就是想象的历史。
这片子一开始我看的很难受，以为是翻译问题，最后发现，是有的主创人员确实说话不利索。这部纪录片对科幻小说和电影的梳理有一定帮助，化繁为简，但是详略不当，没有重点的叙述，缺少核心的价值观脉络。每次的结尾也都归于匆忙，科幻小说和电影的深度没有挖掘出来，就《银翼杀手》来说，一句“侦探追杀流氓机器人”就给概括了，总觉得编剧和导演有大量的科幻小说和科幻电影知识，却没有仔细地探讨其中的深意，缺乏应有的人生思考和哲学思考。印象最深的是机器人和未来旅行，两者涉及到追寻人类自身的价值，其余就像科幻小说和电影的推荐书单和片单，一笔带过。可能是篇幅限制吧，没有表现出来却是事实，平铺直叙得让人不知所云。这和科幻文学在长期以来在欧美没有应有的地位有关系，经常被看作通俗流行文学，缺少大量的学术研究和探讨。
