Long Island, NY, summer 1961: Preteen Alice follows, from across the street, the glamorous love life of Sheryl, 17, with bowling alley Rick. A friendship develops as Alice helps Sheryl see Rick.Plot Summary:In 1961 Long Island Alice is just that bit younger than her playmates. She doesn't quite understand yet about some grownup things and is teased a lot. Her heroine is anyway Sheryl, the teenager over the road who has a succession of boyfriends. Alice even copies her perfume and favourite records, though she has never spoken to her. When Sheryl's father dies suddenly and she takes up with Rick, who is viewed with horror by all the parents around, she and Alice become firm friends as they try to keep the romance going.

这是我看过的最好的teen drama之一，不知道为什么看过的人这么少。从这部电影中不仅能读出一点文学性，甚至还完全可以用来阐释电影与心理学的某种关系（具体其实我也解释不清是什么关系）。这部电影剖析了小女孩对青春少女的仰望，包括生理上的羡慕到心理上对爱情的渴望；美国传统家庭价值观的体现；孩童之间的欺凌现象；成年男女熄灭的火花；成人与孩子之间的隔阂。女主是艾丽莎·杜库什，后来从亭亭玉立的小姑娘长成了成熟性感的美人。雪柔的扮演者是朱丽叶特·刘易斯，一头金发让人很难分辨。男主C·托马斯·豪威尔长得很帅气，但不知为什么完全不火。一眼能认出来的反而是凯瑟琳·海格尔，多年来完全没有任何变化。少女得不到母亲支持，少年得不到社会接受，女孩得不到父母理解和同龄人的善意，索性在那仲夏夜里，他们找到了彼此。
